The Stages of a Project Linus Blanket
1. Blanket Completion
A blanket is finished, and either was delivered to a drop-off station (see: Join us!) or brought to the monthly meeting. After assessing that it is appropriate to donate to any organization and is handmade, it is passed along to stage 2.
2. Label is Sewn On
Next, a label is sewn on to each blanket to show that it came form Project Linus. The label says that the blanket states "From Project Linus" and contains the national website along with a photo of Linus.
3. Size is Determined
Blankets are categorized by: baby (30"x 30" or 36"x 36"), child (40"x 60"), and teen (60"x 54" to 60"x 72"). A baby blanket is given a green tag, child orange, and teen blue.
4. Blanket is Wrapped
The blanket is folded and wrapped in tulle, with its size tag tied on. The child and teen blankets receive a matching teddy bear/ stuffed animal (when available). Blankets are then sorted into groups according to size.
5. Sorted for Donation
The finished blankets, at the end of the meeting, are sorted into bags for specific organizations. Size and number of blankets are dependent on the need present for the organization that month.
