Making Blankets to Provide Comfort to Will C. Wood Football Team
After the passing of their coach, we collected and labeled the 115+ blankets that were delivered to Will C. Wood High School football program students and staff. This was accomplished in just 7 days!
Each blanket has our Project Linus label, but also a white heart, with WCW "23 lettering,
This is to let them know their community is sending along a little extra love with each blanket.
Making Blankets to Provide Comfort to Uvalde Victims
Texas Blanketeers felt that every child in the school deserved a handmade blanket after the incident. The call went to National Project Linus Headquarters, and it was decided that every child in the school district as well as staff and teachers deserved a blanket. The call for blankets went to all project coordinators nationwide.
The Solano Chapter sent a total of 45 blankets to Uvalde, Texas. Community members also got involved to assist: schools, Northwind Quilters Guild, and people throughout the community got together to make hand made blankets. Shipping the blankets would be costly- we looked for options in the community. One of our Blanketeers went to the local Amazon office to ask if they would be able to assist. Amazon helped with boxing and shipping the blankets at no cost to us, and they were delivered to the children and staff of the Uvalde school district.
